2006 24 Hours of Daytona
Photos and story by Derek Meluzio
The Brumos Racing Red Bull Porsche Fabcar #58 finished 4th overall at the 2006 Rolex 24. The car led the race for a total of 51 laps and just narrowly missed a podium finish. The team car, the #59 Brumos Racing entry, ran well early but was plagued by multiple problems and eventually retired from the race finishing 36th overall and 18th in class. Each car was able to crank off lap times during the race in the low 1:46's further showing the competitiveness of the new Fabcar EVO chassis.
Chassis 001, the first Daytona Prototype to ever win a GARRA race overall was on display in the Champions Club lobby during the early days of the event. This is the car that was piloted to victory by Hurley Haywood and J.C. France at the 2003 Nextel Grand Prix of Miami.
